100% of donations to the foundation are used to support research studies in Orthopaedics and Regenerative Medicine. Arthritis and injury are the chief areas of potential benefit. The funds are primarily used to defray the salaries of FOREM research staff for their research activities. Dr Prodromos’ and Dr Hatz’ research work is entirely voluntary and no research funds are used to compensate them for their time or efforts.

No personal gain accrues to Dr. Prodromos or other foundation personnel from this work, except the satisfaction of knowing it helps to provide the best possible evidence-based treatment and to advance patient care.

Clinical Research Studies

As described above our clinical research studies continually follow up long term results of treatment on the thousands of patients who have had treatment at our center since we began this work. This is the only way to generate meaningful clinical data, which is in short supply in the regenerative medicine field, where this kind of follow-up is rarely done. This data is the only way to evaluate treatment for efficacy and safety. Just the research manpower cost to our foundation of contacting these patients is staggering and continually growing. It is for primarily this purpose that we have begun for the first time to actively solicit donations.

Most treatment studies in medicine are funded by pharmaceutical companies with huge budgets. However, the use of your own tissue, autologous tissue, which has produced the best results and which we use exclusively, will never have pharmaceutical funding because there is no profit to be made from it by them. This is not a criticism, just an unfortunate business reality.

Research Equipment

At times research funds may be used for equipment, for example for our dedicated “Socrates” research software. And currently we would like to purchase a flow cytometer which would allow us to precisely measure the number and viability of injected stem cells to correlate with clinical results. However even the least expensive of these machines are in the $50,000.00 range.

To Donate

All donations are fully tax deductible. We are grateful for your support in partnering with us to improve the results of treatment. Please see below to donate if you are so inclined and accept are humble thanks. For questions please contact research coordinator Sue Finkle RN at [javascript protected email address].
