Dr. Peter Michalos has served as Chairman of the Hamptons Health Society that procured 12 ventilators, high flow oxygen machines, thousands of masks, gowns, and other personal protective equipment for essential workers during the peak of the Covid pandemic. He helped set up the first free COVID testing center on the East End. He has served as Associate professor of clinical ophthalmology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He had served in prior years as president of the medical staff and chief of all surgery at Southampton Hospital. He is a prolific inventor and co-invented one of the most minimal invasive laser tear duct surgeries. Dr. Michalos has published multiple text book chapters in medicine and is a regular invited guest on 77 WABC RADIO and NPR on Long Island.
